about

Clémence B. T. D. Barret is a self-taught visual artist who identifies as transnational.

Her artistic exploration revolves around migration, identity, otherness, freedom, ugliness, and loss. Drawing upon her own experiences as a filter, she delves into and seeks to understand these concepts within diverse environments and communities. Barret's artistic expressions are diverse. They take the form of installations, projections, and combine various mediums such as videos, photographs, sounds, movements, objects, paintings, and monotypes.

Politically engaged, Barret's multidisciplinary practice has recently responded to the uncertainties of the Anthropocene era and the challenges brought forth by the pandemic.

Her works have been showcased in international exhibitions and art festivals. From France, Italy, Spain, Finland, and the UK to Greece, Germany, Austria, Serbia, Croatia, Albania, Russia, India, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Morocco, and the US, her art has reached diverse audiences worldwide.
